Victory or a long-term Loss?

Though Pakistan has won the cricket match yesterday but my heart is still sad. When all the nation is busy in celebrating the victory ,I found myself lost in thoughts. All my friends,(most of them)are unhappy of me because I'm the source of spoiling their fun.Why I'm different? One answer: I've got a very sensitive heart. I donot like partying on little things when we have many other issues to be anxious at.
I prefer long term results rather than being happy on short-term  incidents' of happiness.

The news of cricket match victory came at such a time, when Punjab government was taking back the facilities of buying new instruments from medical colleges and government hospitals as government lack funds for education. They are now even restricted to get the old fragile instruments repaired.I don't belong to any medical college and so i have no personal associations with this field. But i do have associations with the education of Pakistan , i do have associations with the future of Pakistan.Every sensitive citizen is compelled to think that where are we going? We have worth Rs 500000 to bestow every Cricketer when they win.Above all, it doesn't matter whether they are winning or losing they are still to get lots of money. They are involved in every crime, whether it be the illegal usage of drug or match fixing. All our love is for cricketers.

To me it seems more like a conspiracy where we our minds are directed to enjoy and party on cricket which is only an entertainment. We can easily calculate the down fall of a nation who prefer entertainment over infotainment/education.If we wish to progress, then we need to bring a change in our priorities!

What do you think it is Victory or a long term loss?

You are right. We are an easily distracted nation or maybe a nation which likes to close its eyes like a bird and think just because I dont see it the danger isnt there. We easily forget and we are easily distracted. A pretty perfect scenario for the people in power.

Agreed to whatever you've mentioned here. Its definitely a long-term loss. And sadly, we're a nation who would just choose to see the current celebrations and show no interest to what we're losing. Sigh ..

Yes it is indeed a Heart rending Spectacle when Education in Pakistan is ignored. All the Scholarships for Pakistani Students by HEC have ended so it is really threatening for the future of Pakistan.

well you got a point there.
Our poor country can't bear extravagances like cricket in such poor economical conditions.

I agree with you!element of entertainment is also necessary but actually we are the nation who lack harmony and balance in life. Our all attention is towards matches and for anyhting else our poor govt has no budgets!

Reebz, you have written a good post but unfortunately ignoring some facts being so emotional.
Cricketers are receiving money on their win, on their loses because its their income its their job, what if a parlimentarian is getting more income than a cricketer when even he could not give us anything except more miseries every day. Cricketers have not said to government to award them prizes on wins, its the behaviour of government. In last few years the world has used every tactic to stop cricket in our country, you know why because its one of the things which always unite us. You forgot what you had written when Pak had won the T20 world cup last year. A girl like you is now talking to down cricket in country who knows what does it worth for this nation. Whats is our behaviour as a Nation. In this digital period of latest technologies, we have cursed more than the rest of the world to our cricketers only due to some pictures which can be edited and made easily and the things which are not even proven yet by scotland yard. None of the other Nations behaves like this. We can only blame or curse when there is something proven and they are supposed to be punished. Pakistan won Oval test and just after that in Lord's test when amir made a record to become the most youngest cricketer in the world who got 50 fastest wickets in test. What if immediately after wining the match English media has claimed that yesterdays match was fixed too.

Secondly, there is always a budget for every field whether it is education or sport. Dr. Peerzada Qasim recently told in an interview that only world bank provides 100 million dollars to Pak government every year, where are these money. We should ask government or ourselves when as a Nation 80% of us are being so senseless sitting in our homes doing nothing for flood victims and spending our money in a daily routine without thinking in this condition each and every paisa is important, rather than being so emotional criticize to quit the most famous game of Pakistan. Hope should not be demolished, it has to rise.

Always think positive, its necessary to survive.

Not only Punjab government but higher education in every city has been made unaffordable for the middle class families.Ku has also increased all feeses because of the corruption involved and university is unable to bear expenses.

I'm very happy to see you at my blog after a very long time.Let me go with points :)
1.(Cricketers have not said to government to award them prizes on wins, its the behavior of government)

Exactly, if you read my post clearly, with out being emotional then you might have noticed, that i didn't blame cricketers even once.I blamed govt, that they have funds for sports and not for the education. Thatswhy i talked about bringing a change in PRIORITIES.

2.(because its one of the things which always unite us.)
though its a side point but i would like to share my opinion here too.
We get united only for the match and once again after the match we are again divided, so no noticeable advantage.

3.You forgot what you had written when Pak had won the T20 world cup last year.
No I havenot,we ofcourse didnot have to hide our face from the rest of the world that time. we were proud to say that yes, sport is a department where we have no corruption, where we have got some patriotic Pakistanis!

4.A girl like you is now talking to down cricket in country.
Oh, Did I?
I only demanded govt to bring a positive change in priorities, and give some attention to dying department of education too! doesn't matter how much you are emotionally attached with cricket, you will agree with me that education is more important then sports.Dont you?

5.(we have cursed more than the rest of the world to our cricketers only due to some pictures which can be edited )

Let suppose that all those pictures of match fixing and videos and the jacket full of dollars worn by one of our cricketer was fake and edited. Then how will you justify series of defeats from our national team?I mean literally girl, series of defeats! and just a one or two victories?I know losing and winning is the part of game, but for our time its the other way round.Losing is always the part of game and victory comes when your opponent does a BIG mistake. We all know that how we won in the last match, not by our tact but by their mistake!
Secondly, Dope tests showed positive results. What willy ou say now?I know you will try defending it that they got punishment for it.fine, but why the hell on earth did they try to cheat? And my dear, using drugs by them wasnot the first or the last case. There are many such cases! Many.

Contd..

6.(Secondly, there is always a budget for every field whether it is education or sport)
You got the point here finally, thatswhat i said dear, that why the hell budgets for sport is so high and nothing for education? There is alot of talent in Pakistan, Even i have written about the pakistani talent, but when they need a little money then govt cant support them!?Just few months back i posted about N.E.D students making a fuel efficient car, they needed support in the form of money but got no positive response from Govt. They were about to participate in a world contest! So, what do you think, helping this young talent from Pakistan is more essential or the cricket?Which can bring more positive fame to Pakistan?

7.(We should ask government or ourselves when as a Nation 80% of us are being so senseless sitting in our homes doing nothing for flood victims and spending our money in a daily routine without)

Now,its a good point.since after the flood,i have met many people, and realized that not many are sitting idly.Perhaps, the ratio of 80 to 20% is the vise-versa. I agree, not everyone can be as involved in flood relief as you and your team members are,But everyone has his own way to help. Some people are happy by donating the money only, and some would go even a step further, and will volunteer themselves physically.
I had an experience working with Pakistan Army at COD for the flood relief and there the officials told us, that people are helping ALOT with money and with the food items. The AID stuff is so much that its getting difficult to keep it.You can notice lots and lots of campaigns like HELP IN A BOX,PEHLI MADAD,PUKAAR,Army Camps,Telethon by Pervez Musharraf for fund raising and many other NGOs like Edhi,Cheepa,Al-khidmat etc. Besides this there are mnay individual teams who are collecting and buying the stuff and then helping them by reaching on the spot!
This shows that ofcourse people are helping and are not idle.Because its a common sense fact that only 20% of population cant gather so much of aid alone!

8.(rather than being so emotional criticize to quit the most famous game of Pakistan)
so, quitting education is nothing important? But quitting a game?though i didnot talk about quitting cricket.I just want balance and harmony:)

9.(Hope should not be demolished, it has to rise.)
YeS!!thumsup! so i want to raise a hope for EDUCATION!its most necessary, believe me.

10.Always think positive, its necessary to survive.
I don't agree with you, if thinking positive can only be made possible by ignoring all the horrible facts of our destruction, then no i cant think positive.I donot like making myself happy only for the sake of happiness.I want real happiness, which will eventually turn my thinking into positive thinking and i wont have to think positive intentionally.
Hope you get my points.
Done with you, and i really enjoyed :)

@ReeBz,I also want to disagree with you on this.
The funds needed for medical equipment has nothing to do with cricket.
First of all,I must tell ya,that most of the Cricket funds aren't provided by the Government but they are earned through it's own revenues.
Cricket is the sport which earns the most through it's sponsors.
If you might remember, the PCB received a mere 1 billion rupees from The federal government for it's yearly budget but still PCB donated 10 billion to PHF from it's own funds.

And I think Urooj got a point as Bangladesh and India are poor nations too but they spend quite extravagantly on Cricket, but their fans don't get emotional like this.

About the 500000 prices you mentioned,I suppose this amount is much smaller than the size of entertainment and joy they provide the "majority" of the people.
Remember how they brought smiles on the faces of IDPs of the swat operation when they won the T20 world cup.
More over,Sports is essential for the commerce of any nation along with education.
So if you want to see where the money fro the health is going,c heck out the bank accounts of our mpa's and the expenditures on their protocols and buffets.

Syeda Zehra:
ummm first you agreed with me, and now disagreeing?*shakes head* cant get you girl, but anyways here you go :)
1.(The funds needed for medical equipment has nothing to do with cricket.)

It has, when our PM and presidents are gifting cheques in lacks then it does matter.I m obviously not saying that shut the cricket complately or donot give them anything but i was demanding equality or a soft heart for education :)

2.Cricket is the sport which earns the most through it's sponsors.
agreed!
But similarly we can get sponsors for education and atleast for the young bright talent too, but problem is this that we the citizen donot welcome any good piece of talent other than CRICKET, so it doesnot get that much exposure which it deserves, therefore No fund problem arises.

3.(And I think Urooj got a point as Bangladesh and India are poor nations too but they spend quite extravagantly on Cricket, but their fans don't get emotional like this.)
Donot compare India with Pakistan, their GDP is much higher than Pakistan and they are more advanced in education as well.Switch on the TV and just sit infront pogo for an hour or two and you will realize how much they are quick in providing their little kids quality entertainment with a perfect blend of education.
eg.science program F.A.Q and MAD.
I would not like to discuss Bangladesh,as the reason of their backwardness may be the same :)

4.I suppose this amount is much smaller than the size of entertainment and joy they provide the "majority" of the people.
Yes, agreed, but again as i said its only a happiness for a short period of time.you talk about smile on IDPs faces due to cricket, oh once again you are right. But just think after the matches are over and everyone is back to homes, what is still left?Need for Education!! if you provide them cheap but quality education they will be able to earn a status in lives in future, which will keep their faces decorated with a smile always! Donot go for short-time happiness, think in long-term values.

5.More over,Sports is essential for the commerce of any nation along with education.

Agreed. You yourself say "ALONG" with education.

6.the health is going,c heck out the bank accounts of our mpa's and the expenditures on their protocols and buffets.
agreed! corruption everywhere.

Reebz dear, I do not want to disagree with you on this point, but I just want to say one thing that your knowledge about cricket is not enough to comment.
Pakistan got victory over England not because of mistakes done by England players but due to the reverse swing bowling that destructed their batting line up and which is always a weapon of Pakistan bowling and may be due to which Amir is supposed to be trapped by English media. If you watched the match, Morgan and Luke wright were playing quite good when Umar gul came back for his third and last spell of just three overs and on the very first ball that reverse swung in a manner that a batsman like Morgan could not save him to play on mid wicket and got out. Next two bowled out Bresnan and Brod and both of the balls amazed the batsmen. On the very last ball of his last over, he got out Graeme Swann by a tricky fast ball and due to the already planned fielding Afridi took the catch at extra cover. Pakistani cricketers only lack one thing which always beaten them and thats the confidence and trust themselves and one of the reason for that is our behaviour. Every Nation supports its heroes in the time of crisis and we do not whether its the media or people.
Secondly, none of the cricketers has got positive dope test yet, the samples were taken by wada was a routine. May be I am less aware and could not get news of the positive dope test of anyone of them. If yes please let me know the complete details, because I don't want to be a part of the planning of the international media by cursing them without any proof. There is good and bad in every field, we should discriminate the bad but should not curse the good also. These players are humans, Pakistani and what loses or wins they have it shows the common behaviour of the country situation and Nation's attitude. They belong to us, have not come from the sky. Treat them in a manner we treat ourselves, there are such cases in every period but there are such cases in every walk of life in Pakistan. So, what punish they would deserve would get when will be proven their criminal acts but before the proven acts cursing them is itself a crime for me.

ReeBz said...

Urooj, I think when Umer gull came,Eoin morgan got out because of no "Power-play" by English team.

Secondly I'm amazed that you are saying that dope tests never came positive.Muhammad Asif was banned to enter in Dubai and Shoaib Akhter was banned to play international cricket in the times of Inzi.
See here:
"Pakistan cricket in the past has been tainted by positive dope tests of star players such as mercurial pacer Shoaib Akhtar and the currently suspended Mohammad Asif."
Source :http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/top-stories/4-Pak-cricketers-to-undergo-dope-tests-in-England/articleshow/6560265.cms

Secondly, my dear, i wasn't criticizing cricketers, you are just extra emotionally attached with it and its not letting you to understand my point.I was not targeting this game as an individual sport but was comparing it with EDUCATION.I didn't say that the game is good or bad, neither i said that it shout be shut down. all that i asked for is Just a soft corner and equal funds for education:)

(They belong to us, have not come from the sky. Treat them in a manner we treat ourselves.)

Exactly, i also have same POV, we must give everyone the same respect he/she is worthy of.So i URGE you all and govt to please treat the Hidden, young and bright talent of Pakistan, who are from us and really from the SKY but due to no proper funds or extra expenses involved they are unable to continue the education..

Urooj Malik said...

Reebz, I just want to finish with the argue that if you were talking about past, then let me say that you are treating them like angels and not humans. Try to talk about present situation and forget the previous. When we expect it for our mistakes we should do it for them as well.

I have also been one of those who become too much emotional for cricket. I think cricket is a sport which like so many other sports is a healthy activity only for those who practically play it. While for the spectators who only watch it on TV or go inside the stadium it's mere an entertainment . I still love cricket but I think we should not take it as a sleeping pill.
Aur bhi gham hain zamanay main "cricket" ke siwa....

Thanks for writing this post and also for sharing your thoughts on my latest post.

Best Wishes
