Kala Bagh Dam:Why we must build it

Courtesy:Weed Media

According to the Indus Basin Treaty signed in 1960 between India and Pakistan, we had to surrender the three eastern rivers of Sutlej, Bias and Ravi, and were allowed to build reservoirs and dams on the Western rivers of Indus, Jhelum and Chenab. Pakistan was forced to accept an unjust principle of replacing perennial stream water, with man made reservoir water, which had inherent complications.

Today we are facing acute water shortage, and are facing El Nino effect as well, due to climatic changes resulting from the elimination of certain biological organisms. Our population growth rate is around 2%, which is one of the highest in the region. It is estimated that by 2025, Pakistan would become the fourth most populous country in the world. Imagine how hard it would become to feed such a big population with the shortage of resources, when we are already facing problems in providing basic necessities to the existing ones.

Indian Role
Since independence India has been creating problems for Pakistan in terms of the natural resources. For instance the Indus Basin Treaty and now a barrage on river Chenab, through which India would be able to stop or regulate water flow to Pakistan whenever it desires against the provisions of the treaty. On river Jhelum we have already built Mangla dam, which provides electricity and irrigation water for the entire country, through a network of barrages and link canals etc. Leaving these two rivers, the only other dependable source which seems to be outside the grip of India is the river Indus, over which we have built Tarbela dam, which stores only 15% of its water obtained mainly through snow melts in the Himalaya.

Silting of Dams
However the problem is that the lake of Tarbela is silting heavily and this silt load is estimated at 554000 tons per day. This amount of silt cannot be taken out from any reservoir; even if it is supposedly taken out, the problem would be where and how to store it. A silt delta has been formed in the reservoir having width between 31-65 Kms and 68 meters deep, located at 14 kms from the main embankment due to the sedimentation process. WAPDA has been able to contain movement of this silt delta so far, which otherwise could have moved in and choked all power generating turbines due to the seismic activity in the area. The danger is still there and in this regard Tarbela will not be able to serve as a multi-purpose reservoir and will only be suitable for irrigation purposes.

Controversy Surrounding Kalabagh Dam
It is stated that by the time Bhasha dam is completed, in 2016, the usefulness of Tarbela would almost have gone. The only economic option left at our disposal is Kalabagh dam, which is already late and has become controversial mainly due to socio-political misunderstandings, selfish assumptions, misgivings and apprehensions amongst the people of various provinces in the country.

Ironically, all the governments starting from late Z.A Bhutto, in order to lengthen their stay in power, have always avoided this technically feasible and economically sound option, which was declared to be a better site than Tarbela in the 1960s. Tarbela was brought on line first due to political considerations and preferences. It is, therefore, natural to think that national interests have been compromised. Jeopardized and manipulated for the sake of handful people with personal interest.

By year 2050, about 2/3 of the world population could be plagued by water scarcity. It is interesting that while water scarcity is strictly becoming severe, yet in most water-scarce regions large quantities of water flow into the sea remain unutilized.

Technical and Socio-Political Issues
The constraints in the implementation of Kalabagh dam can be describes as technical and socio-political. Almost all technical issues and concerns raised by the upper and lower reparians have been taken care of in the shape of design adjustments, while the socio-political factors remain unsolved to date, and are being exploited by those having vested interests. There are also misplaced fears in the general public of flooding of Peshawar valley and Nowshera along with negative impact on the drainage in areas of Mardan, Pabbi and Swabi. Lower reparians feared desertification of Sindh, non-availability of surplus water to fill the Kalabagh reservoir, negative effects on cultivation of riverian areas, sea water intrusion, mangrove forests and diminishing of fish resources below Kotri.

Concerns regarding Kalabagh Dam have been fully analyzed by WAPDA an almost all of them are not sustainable considering the magnitude of benefits available to a large population of this cursed country. Benefits also include availability of water for entire Rabi, sowing and maturing of Kharif crops, 2600MW electricity and flood alleviation between downstream and Indus-Punjab confluence. The Water Appointment Accord of 1991 reflects consensus of all the four provinces over issues of new storage on Indus and other rivers. This should serve as the starting point for the construction of Kalabagh dam. The World Bank has funded projects like SCARP and NDP, which were to the tune of billions of dollars, but they failed to bring about desired economic benefits to Pakistan, because of wrong assumptions, corruption, malpractices and misplaced interests of the World Bank managers.

The severity of recent flooding in Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa is a direct result of excess water coming from the rivers. Kalabagh Dam would have prevented this catastrophe. Dams like Kalabagh would allow for better water management. Dams could direct the water flow to the world’s largest canal system and take it away from the flood pains. The loss of lives of around 500 people must be attributed to those who have opposed Kalabagh Dam and other such projects. Nationalist political parties in Sind and KP are major culprits. Due to their opposition to the dams for selfish personal gains, they must be taken to the task by those who have suffered as a result.

There is no denying the fact that in addition to bringing adown population growth rate and making Kalabagh dam, other feasible reservoir sites must also be exploited to utilize the invaluable Indus water, for irrigation and power generation, which flows almost unused into the Arabian Sea during summers. This is our lifeline and the only option for our economic survival.

Therefore, introduction of effective demand management through adaptation of mechanism for forecasting water availability is needed for adjusting water demand to water availability and developing criteria for water allocation.

Victory or a long-term Loss?

Though Pakistan has won the cricket match yesterday but my heart is still sad. When all the nation is busy in celebrating the victory ,I found myself lost in thoughts. All my friends,(most of them)are unhappy of me because I'm the source of spoiling their fun.Why I'm different? One answer: I've got a very sensitive heart. I donot like partying on little things when we have many other issues to be anxious at.
I prefer long term results rather than being happy on short-term  incidents' of happiness.

The news of cricket match victory came at such a time, when Punjab government was taking back the facilities of buying new instruments from medical colleges and government hospitals as government lack funds for education. They are now even restricted to get the old fragile instruments repaired.I don't belong to any medical college and so i have no personal associations with this field. But i do have associations with the education of Pakistan , i do have associations with the future of Pakistan.Every sensitive citizen is compelled to think that where are we going? We have worth Rs 500000 to bestow every Cricketer when they win.Above all, it doesn't matter whether they are winning or losing they are still to get lots of money. They are involved in every crime, whether it be the illegal usage of drug or match fixing. All our love is for cricketers.

To me it seems more like a conspiracy where we our minds are directed to enjoy and party on cricket which is only an entertainment. We can easily calculate the down fall of a nation who prefer entertainment over infotainment/education.If we wish to progress, then we need to bring a change in our priorities!

What do you think it is Victory or a long term loss?

Islam is the ONE true religion!

We all know that once again Islam has been attacked by some fanatic Christians, indeed they are cursed.Florida church has planned to burn Quran on the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Moreover New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has defended the pastor's right to do so.
(Burn Quran day is being condemned globally by both Muslims and Non Muslims  see HERE)

Actually Islam is the only ONE true and a complete religion. Its teachings are still the same even after several years.Whereas, all the other religions have brought amendments in it.Thatshwy they all have lost the real soul of a religion. All true religions teach to respect every other religion and now this soul is present only in ISLAM.We the Muslims respect Christianity,Hinduism etc.Islam teaches it followers to not to use hate-speech against anyone and orders its followers to respect everyone's religious feelings.Islam doesn't restrict anyone to worship their gods either.History has shown that only Islam is a religion which actually supports freedom of speech and freedom to worship.

"Though Terry Jones is a pastor, he is very ignorant about the history of world religions. It is not Islam that makes people violent and crazy. People that wish to be extremists will use any resource, including their religion, as an excuse to control and harm other people. Many other religions, including Christianity, have been used the same way. In fact, slavery and racism in the U.S. were both supported for hundreds of years under the guise of Christianity. We all know now that those who were using Jesus’ name to enslave others were definitely not doing his will. The same goes for many Muslim Extremists. They do not represent all Muslims.
It seems that Terry Jones is forgetting about the loving spirit of the one he claims to follow. Hopefully one day, people will not be so ignorant and hateful to one another. Terry Jones does not speak for America and he definitely does not speak for Christians." -writes award winning writer and poet Jamthelbg here

I challenge everyone to bring any historical record where Muslims had adopted such a heinous,sense-less,base-less act just to show the hatred towards others!!West is afraid of rapid-spread of Islam, so to overcome their fear anti-Islam lobbies keep launching filthy campaigns. Its not the first attack on Islam,But We still respect Christianity.Islam will InshaAllah dominate the world-no matter how much the enemies try to suppress it. You have hurt our religious sentiments but we will never reply you back by disgracing your prophet or the holy book.We equally respect Hazrat Esa(jesus Christ) as we respect Last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad S.A.W.Once again its only Islam which has taught us to respect EVERY prophet EQUALLY!

We leave our case on Allah!

Hats off to Help in a Box!

Flood water sees no boundaries, neither should our generosity.Pakistan has been hit by the worst flood of its history. In this time of need and distress only love, compassion, and devotion with addiction can help us overcoming the terrible effects which the flood has left on us.There are many NGOs and organizations working for the IDPs but I specially would like to appreciate the work done by "HELP IN A BOX"

Help In A Box is a thoughtful initiative taken by Adeel Hashmi and Shahazad Qureshi which was later joined by Jago-The Evolutionary Awakening..Help in a Box is a team of energetic and high-spirited Pakistani youngsters who are trying to collect basic life supplies for the flood effected people of Pakistan. The team's aim is to provide 100,000 boxes to the effected people before Ramadan .Since they get 70 -80 volunteers daily from all walks of life, which increases to 150-200 on the weekends,it seems they are quite successful in the achievement of their goals.

It is a fact that our youth alone can solve many problems of the country.Let the youth be given opportunities to come forward  and to contribute in the development of the country.I salute these bright stars of the country who despite of all their engagements are volunteering themselves in the virtual cause.Click Help in a Box for more information and donation.

In the end i would like to dedicate my own poem to help in a box team.(Though their fruitful efforts deserve much more than just mere a poem)

Hamen shaheen banna hey,

Evil wants good to prevail.

Persian poet Rumi tells a parable about the first Omayyid caliph Amir Muawaiya who was awakened by a strange man" "Who are you?"Caliph Asked,
"I'm a Lucifer"Replied the strange man.
"But what do you want from me?"Caliph interrogated.
"I want you to offer your prayers"said the Lucifer.

Caliph became confused, and realized that some thing is wrong. He questioned Lucifer more and he kept explaining Caliph.,"Though i have been punished and cursed by Allah, but i still love and respect Him,infact it was due to extreme love that i got jealous when Allah created man"Lucifer tried to defend himself. But once again Caliph didn't believe him.Caliph offered his rituals with even more faith and repentance. Lucifer kept awaking him from his sleep till three days and caliph kept asking forgiveness from Allah. Finally Satan accepted the defeat and made it clear to caliph that If he would miss his prayers that day due to sleep, next day he would offer the prayers with more devotion, more love and with more repentance.Since a tear which falls down from the eye due to the fear of Allah Almighty ,has a great value in the eyes of Allah which Lucifer would be unable to bear.Lucifer does not want any good, he will keep making people choosing wrong from the right, but sometimes he uses "Good" as a stair to spread the "Bad" in the world. In short, Evil wants good to prevail to accomplish its own bad intentions..

Now after so may years,Pakistan is also facing the same situation which caliph had to face.Pakistan is surrounded by the hundreds of Lucifer morally, spiritually and geographically. Now its our duty to keep our eyes open and to follow the caliph.Pakistan is facing worst flood of its history. At such a bleak time we can notice many evils impersonating good and divine angels. But we must not go astray as we have examples from our forefathers before us. It is a food for thought that INDIA released more than 8 times  of water into rivers of Pakistan without giving any prior warning, causing a very intense and heavy flood in Pakistan.
For reference please click here. Not to mention how much loss the flood has caused us already and now India playing an important role in the destruction of Pakistan.

Isn't it clever of India to come up with 50,0000 US$ Aid for the flood affectives? We the people of Pakistan of course don't want the aid from India but yes it is enough to greed our puppet government..Its enough for them to build their private residences in France,London and Switzerland.
I just wonder that if India wants good for Pakistan then instead of being good infront others by offering aid,why not India tries to kill the root cause of this trouble??
Help in a BOX-flood relief camp

Help in a BOX by JAGO
Once again evil wants to prevail good,by being good..We all know the theme, the idea and the conspiracy behind this goodness. Its time for us to repent and to show compassion for our brothers and sisiters who have lost everything in this terrible natural disaster..
May Allah help us identifying our friends and foes.(Amin)

When everything was possible...

While her arms are wrapped around her bent legs, her head resting on her knees and her curly hairs flowing in the cool breeze smoothly. She is swimming in the sea of her childhood memories, thinking about her gone days.

A suppressed but sweet smile can be noticed on her lips when she thinks of running after every other butterfly, and how surprised she would get by seeing the beautiful colors  butterfly would leave on the finger tips of her elder cousin, who was working as a trainer of catching flying butterflies...

She would get crazy by seeing the gas balloons and all those funky bright colors would make her jump all around with happiness and excitement. She misses the time when she would fly kites with her father and how innocently she would ask her dad to tie the thread of balloon in her little finger instead,as she was unable to manage kite flying on her own.
A tear rolled down from her cheeks to remember that how a perfect shopkeeper she would become, when her mother would return from shopping with 3 to 4 big bags full of new clothes and accessories. She would carefully hang the new frocks at every place, she could manage to reach with her baby-height.Some in the door of fridge, some on the handles of doors, some in the windows and would spread the un stitched ones over the floor.

In her childhood everything was possible. She sometimes would imitate a Tandoor wala, without taking her mom's scolds into any consideration. She would pick up Sofa back round cushions, and would tear newspapers into square shaped pieces to make the "chapatis".Now when the time has gone, it seems the most sweetest thing that how she would make the newspaper wet by first dipping her little hands in a bowl of water and then to the chapatis so that she could stick them on the walls of tandoor just as tandoorchis do.(The underside of the bed would perform the function of tandoor).
She still remembers crawling into the tunnels of cushion and then hunting for the toffees and other little things which her siblings would hide for her in the tunnel game.
When she grew-up ,her loving father, bought her a new PC. Now she doesn't sew the curtains and bed sheets for her doll anymore. She reads Harry Potter and fancy imagining herself in Hogwarts. She fantasizes the broom sticks, the qudditch games, the robes, the owls, the train and the wands!!

As time passes by,she changes her hobbies and interests. Now she has everything she has ever wished for, she is happy for all Allah has blessed her with, but why her eyes are still dimmed and her cheeks pink with some hidden sorrow?Because.. she knows that she will keep getting new things, she will keep discovering every day molding into another lovely day, but the time, the golden time of her childhood when she cracked the most silly jokes, laughed till her belly aches, and the satisfaction of making everything possible will never come back....

"Kitne achey they din, mere bachpan k din,
mere bichron ko muj se mila dey koi,
mera bachpan kisi mol la de koi...."

Devotion?

Another Independence Day, and another celebration.14th august is a special day in the life of every Pakistani, no matter what is the relation between you and Pakistan but you still party.

63 years back our great ancestors made the history by sacrificing their lives for us and for this beautiful motherland.History is still being made but there is a great difference.Difference which cannot be kept hidden, differences which we have created among ourselves. Are we the one NATION? Do we love Pakistan, the same as we ought to? Are we sacrificing for Pakistan anymore? NO,we are only sacrificing PAKISTAN for our greed, illegal benefits and for the satisfaction of our racial differences!
When I compare my motherland with the other developing states,I get tears into my eyes.Pakistan stays behind than all.But who is responsible for it? Criticizing government always isn't the right thing. We alone can bring a revolution,We alone can make the difference if we are loyal and devoted to Pakistan.Unfortunately, we are deteriorating the roots of the same country who has given us a shelter to hide in.Pakistan needs the same devotion, same love and same spirit of sacrifice which she observed at the time of creation.

Now, we donot think as a Pakistani, we think as a Sindhi,Balochi,Pathan etc.I was extremely shocked when some few days back some body hurled shoes at Mr.President,i started getting texts from the followers of Zardai, like "GEO ZARDARI GEO SINDHU DESH" I call it "Jihalat" only..

Everyday TV bulletins, newspapers and sirens of ambulances give the news of deaths all over the country. They don't know their fault, we don't know too. Not even the murderers know the reason..

Who is responsible?Mr.Zardari or Mr. Respected Geelani? Or David cameron/Obama?No one else is responsible except US, except the common man!Its we who should think logically before voting for anyone, Its us who lack awareness, its us who have become soul less, mind less, heart less! We are sitting idly hand-on-hand, seeing our so called leaders to use Pakistan as a BAIT!

We cant solve our problems until and unless we become one despite of racial, regional or religion differences.Even if you are a non-Muslim, but your heart should be Pakistan.Pakistan needs YOU,Pakistan Needs ME, Pakistan needs true LOVE,Devotion, Faith and UNITY! Pakistan needs Pakistan!

LET US BE THE CHANGE!
Wish you all the Independence day, i hope next year I'll be proud enough to wish a HAPPY independence day, for which I've no courage right now..I hope that my arms will again get the same strength, and my heart will be powerful enough to once again hold our FLAG and hoist it proudly..  I just hope...

Book launch:My feelings!

Sir Khurram(Third from the left,Miss Bushra Khurram and son Hamza)

It was a very fine evening on 23-July-2010 when i decided to attend the book launch of Sir Khurram Ali Shafique. Though i had persuaded my mother and father both to take me there but i was still very much afraid that I'll be late and miss the essence of the program.

It was my first ever experience to attend a gathering of writers and their circle, therefore i was nervous a bit.But the excitement of meeting with Sir Khurram ,Komal.Urooj and HR overcame all the other feelings. We hired a taxi and directed him to take us to our destination.I was continuously checking the time at my cell phone and every passing minute was making me sad that the program might have started and I'm still wandering in the streets of the near-by area.

Finally we reached at the right spot.PAF Kiet Building looked quite impressive that I felt that no other place could be as suitable for the book launch as this place is.Ceremony was arranged in Room no 20.As soon as i entered the room I put a deep glance over the hall to find the author.I had thoughts that he will be a man with a very high collar and stiff neck with a leg over the other. It is a common issue of our society that if a man is enjoying a good status and his followers are increasing day by day then these specific circumstances turns him so.To my surprise, I couldn't find such a person in the whole room!
I selected a chair for myself and for my parents.Speakers came and went.It was interesting to hear all but my ears were waiting to hear Sir Khurram!

And Whoa!! i was totally amazed when i actually saw the author! Contradictory to my thoughts i had about him, he seemed a very simple man with no proud at all! After having a little chat with him at the end of program i found him really "Shafique" as according to his name.

I also got a chance to meet with Miss Bushra Khurram.I was pleased to know that she belongs to English department of Karachi University. I have strong associations with this institute as I'm a student of KU.I found her very nice, decent and elegant!I really felt honored, having finally got a chance to meet Sir Khurram and Miss Bushra Khurram.I hope someday I will also manage to attend the weekly sessions.

Some memories.

city of lights
Alhamdullillah I'm back to the city of lights.During my long visit in Lahore i noticed there are many differences between the three big cities of Pakistan .Karachi is the best city.Don't think I'm being biased but my opinions are based on logic. Karachi looks developed and glamorous whereas Lahore and Islamabad seem somewhat backward to me.
There is extreme load shedding in both the cities and you can see no lightnings on the roads at night.Malls, roads, buildings everything is much better in Karachi than Isb and Lahore.Again i would pay thanks to City government who gave the lights of Karachi back and also fulfilled the promise of "Green Karachi".
Anyways, though there are certain differences but  i respect and love all the cities of Pakistan as whole Pakistan is mine :)
I had a very lovely time in Lahore with my sweet cousins, and i was more excited as we have started construction of our home there and InshaAllah its gonna be more beautiful then the current home. Its true that :
"whatever you cross,whatever you pain
There'l always be sunshine, after the rain"

Perhaps you may stumble, perhaps even fall
But Allah is always ready to answer your call"

I remember some time back in January when i wrote a poem "hope is the only hope left for me" was connected with the blue times we had been facing. It seemed as we are trapped and there was no way out.But Allah is always ready to answer your call. We just  need firm belief and faith on Allah. Now Allah has solved all our problems so smoothly and beautifully. Thanks to Him.
=======
In the end i would like to share a pic of the young bride who has grownup a bit now:)

My cutie Pie!

Taking a break

Excitement is on the peak these days inside me.The day for which i was waiting since many days has finally arrived.

We are going lahore once again to meet with my sweetest, little and lovely cousins and all the uncles and aunts who love us equally.Sometimes loneliness kills you, but sometimes it acts like a blessing. When you meet your loved ones after a long time, then it is proved as a double excitement which is beyond explanation :) If you have relatives abroad, then you can understand my feelings very well.

I'm surely gonna miss all of my blogosphere friends and their writings.Philosophical posts of Urooj which are opening new doors of thinking,Komal's stray reflections from Iqbal's diary, daily sweet incidents of HR's life wrapped in the riddles and sir Akhter's versatile blog.I wish i manage to get a quick internet connection there, otherwise i will try to stay in touch via my mobile internet connection.

Just one thing is making me a bit depressed,Lahore's hot weather.Scorching rays of sun are enough to tan you and hell of powercuts simply turn you mad, atleast me :D

See ya all!

NED students make fuel-efficient car

The students of NED University of Engineering and technology have created a fuel-efficient car at a cost of 0.5 million, named UZBAA to participate in Shell-Eco marathon 2010.All the students belong to a group Winmark.
According to Haris Rehman leader of Winmark , “The car is fully locally created and can cover 80 kilometers per litre, It has 70.cc cold back engine. The body is prepared from fiber glass, whereas its total weight is 125 kg.”
Team members have spent almost PKR 3 lac in the making of this car. It is stated that more expenditures will come yet, as car needs front and back screen as well as side glasses. Moreover around 3335 US dollars are needed in order to represent Pakistan in the global competition being arranged in Malaysia which they have not managed to collect yet. Students are hoping for the sponsors to provide them efficient funds.
According to Talha Asad , another member of the WinMark group, says that their teachers have appreciated them and only because of their appreciation they have managed to achieve this goal successfully, but unfortunately they could not support them economically.
The car was prepared as per the standards of shell-eco marathon race. According to the shell pamphlet the length of the car should be in between 220 and 35cm whereas weight shouldn’t be more than 160kg.
WinMark team has showcased their car at Karachi which is complete and is ready to race in the marathon. They will be competing with world’s top notch cars in urban category. This year the event is to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Sepang International Circuit. The expected audience is more than 6000 people and the event will be covered by media from over 20 countries.
The team comprises on students of Electrical and Mechanical Departments of NED University. They are:
M Tabrez Siddiqui, M Shahab Siddiqui, Ahsun Jawed, M Waqar Ahmed, Osama Rehman, Saeed Ahmad (Team Advisor), Haris Rehman (Team Manager), M Bilal Sohail, Taha Rasul Sheikh, M Hassan Abbasi, M Ahsan, Talha Asad and Usman Mehmood.
Pakistan is full of talent and history proves it. However it is sad to realize that Pakistan government has no funds to help its bright stars. According to Pakistan official stats, an average player from the national Pakistani cricket team earns more than 7 to 8 million per year. Moreover they are awarded with millions of Rupees depending on their performance, the number of sixes and fours they hit in the match. When the government has funds for Sports then why are we so poor when it comes to education? Government of Pakistan should form new policies and alter their preferences. I request President and Prime Minister of Pakistan to please increase the budgets for education and appreciate the real talent of Pakistan.

Youm-e-Takbeer --- A powerful Pakistan.

2 8th May 1998 is a very historical and a memorable day for Pakistan. We successfully conducted nuclear explosion.Every year on 28th may i get lost in memories and my thoughts take me back in the year 1998.Clips of atomic explosion and the echoes of "Nara-e-Takbeer" fastens the blood flow and encourage us to do something worth memorable once again for Pakistan.

"Today, we have settled a score and have carried out five successful nuclear tests"
Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, 28 May 1998"

We know that Israel and South Africa have full nuclear capability -- a Christian, Jewish and Hindu civilization have this capability ... the Islamic civilization is without it, but the situation (is) about to change.
Deposed Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, from his jail cell, 1978

I remember that how owners of confectioneries started distributing lots of sweet among the people free of cost. People were doing bhangra everywhere, and everyone was busy in exchange of wishes with each other. No doubt, it was a great success for every citizen of Pakistan.Pakistan always wanted to see the world free of arms but to protect her own solidarity she had to go for the creation of atomic bomb, which is still a thorn of an eye for many anti- pakistan powers'.India's successful explosion give a new momentum and speed to Pakistan's atomic project and the very first time India  was proved a blessing for us.

Now we are the proud citizens of an Atomic power state but question is still the same. Does it make any difference?Though its enough to threaten our enemies, but  are we really doing so? Purpose of doing an atomic explosion was to protect solidarity of Pakistan, but we really have failed in it. Apparently we are successful, but i reckon we are a double-failed nation. Even after all the resources, and all the powers ,we are mentally a slave nation. We feel shame in following our own cultures and traditions. We are often begging for aid from foreign powers.

We have power, we can talk our enemy eye-to-eye, but what is preventing us from it?Why we don't speak when our innocent brothers, sisters and little sweet kids lose their lives in our tribal areas due to American drones?why we are always ready to do operations in our own country after taking dictation from the so-called super powers? When we are blamed for terrorism in the whole world why cant we point out boldly that who the real terrorist is?According to Sebstian-a writer U.S is world's No.1 terrorist. She had attacked Iraq, Afghanistan and is a danger and a threat for Pakistan's survival and safety.

It is also not a hidden fact that how terribly we treated our national hero Dr.Abdul Qadeer Khan.We didnot miss even a single chance in disgracing and insulting his honor. We even blamed him that he stole formula from some foreign country for pakistan? We didn't stop even here, we moved  one more step forward and blamed him that he is involved in wide-spread of nuclei material? We imprisoned him?Shame on us!We should learn from India. They are the real people who know how to respect talent.

Now, where we are standing? There is a great need  to judge it and to take appropriate steps. This is the right time when we should recognize our enemies. This is the time when we should take steps for the development of Pakistan. Lets make a resolution that on this "Takbeer Day" we will stop blaming the government of Pakistan. Its a common attitude,we think that our work is done by blaming the authorities as we have no power.
NOO this is downright wrong concept. We the people of Pakistan, the youth of Pakistan has lot of power, we can change the things if we try, if we think about it, we can BE the change! we can make the difference!!
Lets come, join hands and take initiatives! We shall take Pakistan AHEAD!We shall make Pakistan the leader of the whole world.InshaAllah!

Nara-e-Takbeer-ALLAHUAKBAR!!

P.S Congratulations everyone.I'm adding up some fire works here as a celebration for a day:)

Quit Facebook Day:May 31

"F acebook page that led to Pakistani ban removed,” said the latest from Associated Press (read it at Yahoo! News) this morning. If through some hurriedly viewed news on TV you got the impression that Facebook took down the page, apologized or retracted, then please be corrected: “Facebook said Friday it has not taken any action on the page,” the Associated Press tells us. "So it was possible the creator took it down Friday because the page had served its purpose.”

This may not be the end of troubles for Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook. May 31 has already been declared "Quit Facebook Day". No, not by Jamaat-i-Islami (nor by Imran Khan neither). Quite unrelated to the recent controversy over the hate festival, a website has been set up to explain why Facebook may be risky not only for you personally but also for the future of humanity:
"For us it comes down to two things: fair choices and best intentions. In our view, Facebook doesn't do a good job in either department... For a lot of people, quitting Facebook revolves around privacy... but we also think the privacy issue is just the symptom of a larger set of issues. The cumulative effects of what Facebook does now will not play out well in the future, and we care deeply about the future of the web as an open, safe and human place. We just can't see Facebook's current direction being aligned with any positive future for the web, so we're leaving.”
12,677 people have joined the Quit Facebook Day Campaign by "committing" to quit it on May 31 on the website (there were 12,666 when I started writing this post about 15 minutes ago, so the number is increasing by the minute).

This is not even among the bigger troubles that have started surrounding the CEO of Facebook during the recent weeks. Here are some randomly selected headlines to give you an idea (embedded links take you to details):
  1. Facebook CEO’s latest woe: accusations of securities fraud
  2. The Social Network Depicts Facebook CEO As 'Sex Maniac'
  3. Facebook Could Predict When Your Relationship Will End
  4. Facebook Privacy Issues Spark Internal Disagreement, Challenges To CEO
  5. Facebook Alternatives: Other Secure Social Networks You Could Switch To
  6. As Facebook Takes a Beating, a Brutal Movie Is Set to Make Things Much Worse”
  7. 'Social Network' script: A meaner take on Facebook
Some of these things are tough. Nick Summers on the blog of Newsweek (listed as #6 here) describes a recent Q&A session between a Facebook VP and readers at nytimes.com as "insincere at best and Orwellian at worst" and foresees even worse consequences when the movie gets released on October 1, portraying Zuckerberg as "a borderline autistic, entirely ruthless conniver." Other problems faced by him since April 21 and listed in this article include “a letter of concern from four U.S. senators, a filing with the Federal Trade Commission by 15 privacy groups, grave op-eds from the influential people at TechPresident, Wired, Thomas Baekdal, GigaOM, and elsewhere, helpful information to make sense of Facebook's evolution, including a timeline from the Electronic Frontier Foundation and a clever infographic from an IBM researcher, and the launch of an idealistic NYU startup, Diaspora.”

Arguably, the role of Facebook in the recent controversial cartoon campaign was also different from YouTube and Wikipedia — and hence the general resentment among Muslims is mainly directed against Facebook and not so much against the other two websites that got banned in Pakistan in this context.

If the conclusion on which Muslim users of Facebook have arrived is similar to what the webmasters of Quit Facebook Day are stating on their website (“We also don't think Facebook has much respect for you...”), one wonders how it would seem if millions of these Muslims also join the campaign and unanimously quit Facebook on May 31 — especially if they seal their lips about the offensive cartoons, blasphemy and all other matters at least until then and unanimously start chanting, “Just like the webmasters of Quite Facebook Day, we just can't see Facebook's current direction being aligned with any positive future for the web, so we're leaving. Nothing more to say (at least till May 31)!”

Such a thing would require extraordinary self-control, discipline and goodwill. Faith has produced such qualities on certain occasions but even if Muslims miss the opportunity, other problems surrounding Mr. Mark Zuckerberg are not pointing towards a very bright future either. Remember what James Bond says to the bad guy in The Living Daylights? “If the Russians don't get you, the Americans will!”

Pakistan bans facebook.

I'm extremely happy on the step taken by Pakistan government to ban the biggest social networking site "Face book".Pakistan is a country having 2.3 million users of facebook .The site was involved in encouraging people to draw blasphemous caricatures of Holy Prophet S.A.W.It is said that "draw Muhammad day" is being organized as a revenge of  the threats given by Islamic extremists to the responsibles of  TV show "South park".(south Park also depicted the blasphemous images)Therefore to set the example of "Freedom of Speech" the idea of arranging such a blasphemous event was given by cartoonist Molly Norris(may Allah's curse be upon her)who later backed out.The idea quickly caught the attention of non-Muslims and pagans.

However,It is very necessary to understand that what "Freedom of speech" actually means.According to the dictionary of "Oxford University Press"- "Oxford guide to British and American culture", Freedom of speech is :"The right to express any opinions in public. This right became part of American law under the "First Amendment".If the opinions expressed are false or damage a person's reputation, however that person can take legal action under US law.In Britain people are free to express most opinions, but it is against the law to express some ideas,e.g ideas that aim to cause RACIAL hatred."
This shows that all the people who are supporting the event ,the one way or the other are not only trying to play with the religious feelings of the Muslims but are also breaking the rules of their own countries. We demand the most terrible punishments for the cartoonist Molly Norris and for the person who started the page over facebook.

Several protests and processions compelled the government of Pakistan to take immediate actions against the social networking site.An SMS campaign was at rise demanding boycott of the site, moreover the rallies were taken out in the different parts of the country.Alot of hatred and anger can be observed particularly among the youth.Though banning of face book in Pakistan is not the solution, but this will cause huge financial loss to face book authorities.

STATISTICS:
Face book earning: $ 11000000000
Face book users 4609,221,00
per users $2.39
pakistani usres 2359620
total revenue from pak $5,631,281,29

Boycott facebook "Every body draw Muhammad day"

Now the time has come for all the Muslims of the world to unite and take appropriate actions against "Pagans " and all the non-Muslims who are continuously trying to hurt the emotions of the Muslims by targeting their most beloved personality "Prophet Muhammad S.A.W" and Islam.
A filthy group led by cartoonist "Mollie Norris" (May Allah's curse upon her) has declared 20th-may-2010 as the "Draw Muhammad day" and has also started a page at face book which has got 36,262 fans uptill now.All these people will take part in a drawing competition which will held on 20th may at facebook.Despite thousands of complaints, Facebook administration is not banning the page; unlike they usually do even for very minor violation of Facebook Terms of Services.
At the same time another page in response to the anti-Muslim page was created.click here to see. This page has even more fans, which proves that there are only fists full of elements which are against Islam and the Muslims. Now its our duty to form a policy by which we the Muslims can avenge terror loving folks.

To what they call is freedom of speech is nothing but proof of their coward and childish natures.Freedom of speech in no way means that you start jumping on others neck with no reasons and start abusing them.If you do so, you should be ready for the same, but No, Islam is the religion of peace, and teaches brotherhood and love to all. These terror loving elements are the real curse, responsible for creating  racism in the world .If One is matured and considered himself cultured/educated,he must prove it by  paying same level of respect to other religions as well.History of Muslims is full of several accounts where they ruled over Hindus,Christians etc but never hurt anyone's religious feelings. Muhammad Bin Qasim, tipu sultan etc were few most famous kind rulers.

These campaigns are clearly more like a tease than of “Freedom of Speech”, and an obvious demo of mocking a religion, which for sure is not allowed by any religion of the world.
An SMS campaign in Pakistan is on the rise to boycott Facebook, at least on May 20th, 2010 to protest against this act of Facebook for not banning the page till now.

I request government of Pakistan and the media of  Pakistan both private and public sector to take immediate actions against this group. We need to get united as nothing can be done on the individual basis. This page is existing on face book with the approval of face book authorities, which we all should condemn as much as we can.

I request everyone that please maintain peace in the world. This world is yours and mine, donot create hatred and racism in it.

“Why destroy when we could create, Keep the peace, erase the hate.”

update 1:Good news:The specific page promoting "draw Muhammad day "will be banned soon in Pakistan.State level orders have been received. Now, we are waiting for its implementation.
Reference :Maher Bukhari's talk show SAMAA TV.

Update 2: The page has been banned in Pakistan now, a good step by Pakistan's government, but we need to form a rather big and more effective policy to fight against such heinous activities by non-Muslim extremists.
