The land of Pakistan is full of talent and creativity. Be it any field, Pakistan is rich in smartness. While surfing online, I stumbled upon a very refined artistic brand from Karachi "Fizy's Art" who has modified the definition of handcrafted products by her bright new and unique ideas. I have seen lots of hand made work, but the work  Faiza Bhati is doing, you will definitely fall in love with,after reading this post.

The love, the efforts and the colors of happiness she is spreading by her work is matchless. Every inch, and every little detail of her products reflect the joy and excitement with full care with which they have been created. She is making scrapbooks, tag books, albums, greeting cards, notebooks, paper bags etc. In short I have never seen such a creative use of "PAPER"ever! Her talent speaks for itself when you see her customized work. Yes, she also accept customized orders and works on the given theme certainly for "you", for "us"

Do you feel the difference between both the phrases?if yes, then did it please you or was it arrogant for you?Yes!it is not the time of creating differences but to limit them, to minimize them and if possible,it is a time to totally nip these racism based differences from their roots.

For all of those, who are proud Mahajirs and must be assuming that I'm a non-mahajir, hence, it has become easy for me to utter these daring words.Let me clarify that my forefathers are also mahajir. They also migrated and sacrificed for Pakistan. I can be proud too, but I think beyond the differences, i go far for the love of my land where the heat of loathe and racism cant reach. When Prophet of Allah ended all the superiority of Arabics over non-Arabics, then how can anyone belonging from Khi become superior over a non-khiiet?

If we think that there should be different provinces to fulfill the political representation/needs of all the castes, sects including mahajirs, punjabis, pushtoons etc, then again we are highly mistaken. We are leading towards destruction!! Until and unless we become just one Pakistani by forgetting all the racial and sects' differences between us, we will not see a peaceful Pakistan in our lives. Honestly, i have never seen educated civilizations fighting on such childish issues. I have never seen an American, bluffing and showing off that he belongs to Newyork or Lasvegas. His only identity is "being an American"!Come on, people come out of your nut-shells, look, search for love! though its difficult, you will find it for sure!

We all know that Karachi is the backbone of Pakistan. If there is bad political situation in Karachi then whole country has to suffer, but thats what all the remaining cities are. As Holy Prophet said , "Muslims are like one body, if one part of the body aches, the other part feels its pain as well".
As we cannot prefer our one sibling over the other, or mother over father, then how can we prefer khi on lahore or vise versa?(same for all other cities).

Every Pakistani owns Karachi and so the other cities. Karachi is neither the identity of Urdu speakers nor it is the property of Pashtoons. It is for all. Karachi is the industrial city.Every one is invited to play his/her role in its development.If you work for it, you become a proud khi-iet!! A proud khi-iet is not the one who is a Mahajir but the one who is honest and sincere with it! It can be you, me or even they :)

Feel the love in the air, not the smell of "Barood"! We have to sow the seeds of  love in this land for our future generation, not the seeds of hatred.

Meera the most entertaining star from Lollywood celebrated her 25th birthday on May, 21st 2011. According to Meera, she celebrates her birthday every year with journalists’ community at Lahore Press Club.

The famous star Meera , in whose presence everyone gets a chance to laugh out loud, made her entry in Karachi Press Club almost half of the hour late than expected time. Dressed in cream colored outfit, Meera spent her birthday evening with media in style.

While speaking to the journalists, Meera said, “I would like to thank Aziz Awan and Asif Ali Pota, for remembering my birthday, which although falls on May 12, I was busy shooting certain programmes, recording certain stuff and so I could not travel back to Lahore to celebrate my birthday with my family and friends.” “On May 12, people from various quarters and places of Pakistan wished me, for which I am very thankful to them.” She added.Meera-celebrated-25th-Birthday

Meera, as usual, kept her unique identity maintained and gave various chances to the lucky journalists, for laughing out loud. She uttered “Happy birthday” on her own on which media man could not resist to make crazy laughs. While cutting cake, a lot of journalists present at her birthday started questioning about her age. She remained very careful and did not utter a single word; perhaps she was busy calculating her age. Before she could come up with a “finally-thought and decided age”, someone besides her shouted that Meera has turned 25. “It is her 25th birthday”. This again pushed the journalists in the “laughing-zone” which made Meera nervous and upset for quite some time. Meera however, once again surprised everyone by stating some very sensible words, which are not expected from her. She said, “We need to become serious, we are not serious people, just look at the nation, this non-serious attitude has led us, where? Sadly, Pakistan has become a laughing stock in front of the entire world.”

This made media men silent but wore evil grins on their mouths shortly, which called for Meera’s thrashing again. “I would want a serious attitude from the media, this is a serious business, and we have to give each other respect.” she said.

Sharing some other stuff she said: “I started working when I was hardly nine years old, I believe one is a born artist.” Stating in the same breathe: “Every morning I wake up and learn new things.”Giving other details, she said: “Now, I am planning to make a film called Askar. I am a Pakistani national; I hold a Pakistani nationality and represent my country on those same lines.”

However, in the end of occasion, Meera denied to respond about joining the former President Musharraf’s political party.

She said, “I will not comment on this. I am just here to cut the birthday cake and celebrate my birthday, today. No comments.”

 Folk sayings like "Laur Laur ae" (Lahore is Lahore) and "jinne Laur nai wekhiya o te jamiya nai" (the one who hasn't seen Lahore has not been born yet) are quite true. Realizing this fact after 22 years of my "unborn" life I decided to move in Lahore permanently to get born.

Though Karachi is a backbone of the country and a metro city, Lahore is also not less than Karachi in any way. We all know that archaeological sites are of great importance to any country and a source of cultural and historical heritage. Lahore therefore is a very important city. It is the only city which preserves and provides a natural habitat for extinct and unique species of public transport (chinchi rickshaw and Taanga* (horse-cart)).Chinchi and Taanga both give you double joy in a single ticket. Taanga besides dropping you at your destination has a duty of decorating your roads with beautiful dung cakes (yes, no fear if you forget your path, just follow the dung cakes ;)) whereas Chinchi gives you so many jerks while traveling, and make you feel as if you are traveling in the crevices of the moon. I reckon this modern invention can help the scientists for the massage of bone and bone marrow patients*. Just make the patient sit in chinchi and lets him enjoy the ride. Within one ride he will be perfectly okay. Na hon gi haddiyan or na ho ga dard :D

The most important thing of chinchi rickshaw is its driver. Just look at his thick, long moustaches with round ends which have grown healthy by the regular massage of chinchi oil. Look at his chest which is full of pride. Seems he is aware of the fact that he owns a magical vehicle. He sits on it with so much proud as if he is not over a chinchi rickshaw but over a Spanish Bull which he has defeated and occupied after a long, unforgettable bull fight ;)

You also don't need to worry if you get lost on the roads of Lahore. Just wave to a person and a lively-at-heart lahori-iet will come to solve your problem. He will explain you all so beautifully that you will prefer being lost rather that reaching at your target. Once we had to face similar situation and when my dad asked him the way, what he explained was, is here:

"sajjey jao,tey khabbey jao,nair(nehar)aa jawe gi.bus nair de naal naal lang jao,aender pass(under pass) a jawe ga,onoo chad dowo fir ainj muro,tey oonj muro, ley wai tussi puhanch gayo,ab menu ijazt". As soon as he stopped speaking this unfamiliar weird language my dad thanked him and waved at another person to give our luck a second try ;)

The canal of Lahore is in resemblance with the sea in Karachi. As at the beach of Karachi many birds migrate from the different parts of the world and stay for breeding. In Lahore too, different breeds of Lahor-ites migrate from their homes to canal and hibernate in it till the summers are over. You might have heard the phrase "Goat and lion drinking water from the same pond", but here Lahor-iets have set a brand new example. Just observe the brotherhood between the mankind and the animalkind in this canal. You will find both the species floating together. Sometimes it will be a man over a buffalo and the other times it will be a buffalo over a man, enjoying swimming in the cold icy water of canal. From looking at the distance it is difficult to recognize whether it's a "Sanda" (a big buffalo) or a "Banda" (a man)taking bath in the canal.

Seems that Lahore also respect miniature art. Especially in Lahore, miniature art has also made its way into buildings. In Karachi my eyes were habitual of seeing sky-rocketing buildings but here I realized the importance of miniature art. Who in khi is unfamiliar with the restaurant Salt n Pepper? It also has a "Bon-Si" branch in Lahore. I used to feel proud on the huge,amazing makro in Karachi. When I visited Lahore's tiny-mini-mani-o-Makro I had to accept that Lahori ites possess some taste for art. Yes, here you lose khi walo ;)

Honestly speaking Lahore is one of the big and famous cities of Pakistan. No city is less or more important. Fun and humor is a part of every Lahori-ite and they love to spread smiles on every face! Thanks for bearing this ;)

 Once again the most instable university ,"Karachi University " of the most unpredictable city has postponed exams for an unknown time limit due to some unknown reasons.

It is forth time in this semester that the admin of KU has postponed the ongoing exams.Not to mention that students and teachers both are in mental trouble and distress.A private news channel has reported that due to some clashes among student unions, administration of KU has cancelled all the due exams on 21st-dec-2010 and 22-dec-2010.

Moreover it was also reported that some famous student union of KU has threatened that if today university remains open then All Paksitan and all world will see its aftermath.

Therefore, to make sure the security of thousands of students lives and teachers,KU decides to shutt of for two days.

This isnot the first time that exams in KU havebeen postponed due to war inside" MADR-E-ILMI".Specially in this semester situation has turned worse.One thing is a fact that the administration of KU has failed badly in controlling the inside situation of the university.They have failed to control clashes of student unions,yet banning the political activities and students union totally  is a far fetched idea.

I on the behalf of all my unfortunate fellow students of KU appeal to the Governor,Vice chancellor,and Registar to please look into the matter CAREFULLY.There is a STRONG need of measures to be taken by the authorities to prevent any such mishaps in the future.KU is a place where youth of tomorrow is formed.Please build confidence in them instead of damaging their personalities by constant growing fears of instabilities and nepotism.We need your help,please save us!

Producing a documentary-Chatpata Karachi.

It was a fine cool evening.Dark sky embedded with stars was definitely going to make our time memorable. Though it was natural of us to feel nervous and tensed,excitement was still at peak.
We four with our cameraperson "LALA RUKH"(The only female cameraperson of Pakistan,who formerly worked at Geo TV network) eneterd in car to move ahead. Our destination was Boat Basin's Food Street.

A month back we were assigned to produce a 10 minutes documentary on any interesting topic.We all know that Paksitani population donot welcome documentaries very well.Therefore the most tough job for us was the selection of a topic.We wanted a topic which could attarct anyone's attention and would make them glued with the screen until it ends.After few disputes, we all selected a topic "Chatpata Karachi". Yes, now its your turn to imagine about all those sizzling spicy foods,sweet aromas, and mouth watering foods of Karachi.

Yummy spicy Chicken karahi,tasty glistening Nehari, Simply a piece of art-showarma etc were the tempting sights and treat to our taste buds.Decent desi style set-up with wooden takhats and pillows in an open air food street were quite welcoming for us.However, today we were out not for thrusting up our tummies with these uncountable "mon u salwa" but to shoot a documentary. Lala Rukh fetched me back from my fantasy world where i was a queen and my royal servants were serving me B.B.Q in gold plates and silver crockery.

Lala Rukh placed her tripod stand and fixed camera to take some best shots,covering the food street.We learnt how to take angles, close shots and long shots.We then got busy in taking interviews from the people who were enjoying the delicious food.It was our first experience of immediate interaction with so many different people but it was simply awesome. We also met a couple of French and it was fun talking with them. I loved when one of them,so full of energy, said. "I love Pakistan, and Pakistani food".
  
After the food street we covered Lal qila restaurant and few others.It was a fun filled experience under the leadership of experienced and a polite camera person Lala Rukh!

 I found in my home-came from some unknown direction

Metroploitian city Karachi is again on the hit list of terrorists.More than 80 people have been deprived of their lives.Is this the city karachiiets were proud on?A search opeartion will now be conducted in sensitive areas of karachi.

It was such a horrible feel for me to watch the very famous and over crowded places of karachi on Tv- not crowded with people going offices,colleges and universities but with an air of horror and intense firing, burnt tyres and violence.Like every other peaceful citizen I also wish for the safety of Karachi and khiiets.Sometimes i think that we are more unlucky as comapre to people of Afghanistan,Kashmir,Bosnia and Palestine.They are in the clutches of enemies-whom they can easily recognize. But what about the innocent people of karachi,who are the residents of an independent state but are in more danger than them.

We donot know that when a bullet from an unknown direction would come and pass through piercing our hearts!!I live in a safe area guarded by the armed guards 24/7 hours.Still it doesnot matter when you live in a horrible and hate mongering city like karachi.TWO bullets from some where came in our home in these two days.Thanks to Allah that all of us are safe.

Karachi being the economic hub of the country should be free from target killings and all sort of riots. Unfortunately government has failed to controll the situation.I donot see any point in avoiding ARMY.People of karachi will be relaxed and the terrorists will be caught.Pakistan Army also belongs to Paksitan and we have trained them for the same time.It should be no shame for government to call army in karachi.We all know that POLICe is the most corrupt department and if it it is removed than ratio of crime will be down to 50%.Anyhow i pray that real terrorists be caught and punished terribly for all their crimes.(one of my far-fetched dream,i know)

city of lights

Alhamdullillah I'm back to the city of lights.During my long visit in Lahore i noticed there are many differences between the three big cities of Pakistan .Karachi is the best city.Don't think I'm being biased but my opinions are based on logic. Karachi looks developed and glamorous whereas Lahore and Islamabad seem somewhat backward to me.

There is extreme load shedding in both the cities and you can see no lightnings on the roads at night.Malls,roads,buildings everything is much better in Karachi than Isb and Lahore.Again i would pay thanks to City government who gave the lights of Karachi back and also fulfilled the promise of "Green Karachi".
Anyways,though there are certain differences but  i respect and love all the cities of Pakistan as whole Pakistan is mine :)
I had a very lovely time in Lahore with my sweet cousins, and i was more excited as we have started construction of our home there and InshaAllah its gonna be more beautiful then the current home.Its true that :
"whatever you cross,whatever you pain
There'l always be sunshine,after the rain"

Perhaps you may stumble,perhaps even fall
But Allah is always ready to answer your call"

I remember some time back in January when i wrote a poem "hope is the only hope left for me" was connected with the blue times we had been facing.It seemed as we are trapped and there was no way out.But Allah is always ready to answer your call. We just  need firm belief and faith on Allah.Now Allah has solved all our problems so smoothly and beautifully.Thanks to Him.

I Own Karachi – My city, my responsibility!

The beauty of the metropolitan city Karachi has increased alot in past few years and for which the credit goes to the City Government’s unique ownership program ‘I Own Karachi’. Launched on 14th August 2008, the program aimed to bring positive change in the mindset of the people of Karachi. The  city Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal openly invited all the residents of Karachi to come and register themselves with the City Government, he gave them the opportunity to become the ‘City Owners’.

What the program actually does is that the registered city owners are provided with some training so that they can perform the basic duties whenever needed. The most important feature is that the common man is given attention and steps are being taken in order to deal with his problems. The Karachi City Government and the City Owners have launched a CNG bus service in the city of Karachi, they have also built several bus stops with very beautiful shelters. The problems of sewerage and water shortage have also been given attention and the City Government and the City Owners have managed to bring SOME improvement in the sewerage system of the city, though its still not enough and ALOT needs to be done but its still SOMETHING.

Extreme love and sincerity was observed from the residents of Karachi. They supported the I own Karachi program and almost everyone participated in the program with zeal and zest, be it women, labourers, businessmen, students, sportsmen, government officers, elected representatives, office bearers of Arts Council, rickshaw/taxi drivers and even the Imams.

This unique concept of city ownership has been in the positive direction and it has somewhat changed the picture of the city. The work done by the joint efforts of City Mayor and the people of Karachi is remarkable and is appreciated around the world.
More than 80 overhead bridges, underpasses and fly-overs were constructed just in the time span of just 2 years, which is actually a great achievement. The condition of the existing parks and recreational places has been improved while the city government has also made some new parks and places which add to the city’s beauty. Karachi is the biggest city of the country and it was once known as the city of lights, the City Owners are trying hard to help Karachi regain the status of the city of lights!

What we normally do is that we only criticize the government but with this program instead of criticizing Government, the people can actually step forward and bring positive change in the city. We can only progress and touch the peak of glory when we consider the public property as our own.Pakiology.com prays that may Pakistan and the city of Karachi flourish more and more with every passing day. Pakistan Zindabad!!
